Greetings Reader -

One of the things I've learned in this venture is that there's something of a science to choosing a great seat at the ballpark, especially if you have to work within a budget as we all do.

Citizens Bank Park in my hometown of Philly is a great example. Seating there is arranged pretty well and even upper level seats have decent views. But before I knew what I was doing, I had experienced a few times where I've thought, hmm, I could have done better than this seat.

The one that comes to mind most was when I arranged a game with a bunch of co-workers. I picked out seats in the right field corner, thinking it would offer an ideal view of the scoreboard. Which it did.

The problem? It was a blazing July late afternoon, and we were sitting in that Philadelphia sun until well into the evening. Fans were cheering cloud cover. It wasn't the most fun experience, even for live baseball.

So I help you avoid that with my Citizens Bank Park seating guide. I also tell you about the amenities that come with premium seats (like gourmet food items), where to sit when bringing the kids, where you could have obstructions, the best standing room spots and much more. It's worth a read to learn some things you might not otherwise think of.

Some other fun news; this week Ed Kasputis from Baseball PhD featured little ol' me on his podcast to talk about PNC Park! His show is great, and I always have a good time talking with him.

I mentioned getting to PNC Park by boat during the show, so I included a link below about that too.

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you at the Yard!

Tip of The Week

Premium seating at a ballpark often includes a lot of great perks, like indoor air-conditioned concourses, better food selection, and private bathrooms.

It comes at a premium price of course, but check out Gametime for low demand games. You can sometimes find a great deal. If you can splurge on your baseball a little bit, it's well worth it.

Did a friend forward this email to you? Cool, thank them for me!

My Complete Guide to the Best Phillies Seats

Citizens Bank Park is a great ballpark, but it definitely helps to know which seats offer the best views, as well as what's included with the premium seats, how to avoid using a bunch of steps, why people sit in the GHOST Energy Deck, where the shade is, etc.

I cover it all here, including the newly updated Philadelphia Insurance Club and Cadillac Hall of Fame Club, right down to the Rooftop Bleachers and standing room spaces. All with helpful pictures!

Kurt Appears on Baseball PhD!

Ed Kasputis recently featured me on his highly entertaining "Baseball PhD" podcast, to talk about PNC Park and what makes it one of the best ballparks in baseball.

My appearance starts about 40 minutes in, but his interviews are great and he does some funny AI bits, so you won't regret watching it all...and click here if you'd like to read about taking a boat to PNC Park.

The Ballpark E-Guides Newsletter Saturday, September 26, 2026 Greetings Reader - We're coming to those last few days of the 2026 season, with the final playoff spots being determined. Around Philly where I live, people are quite nervous as I write this. We'll see I guess. But in the Midwest, two NL Central teams have punched their ticket, so I thought I'd share some cool info about the Cubs' and Brewers' ballparks. Just in case you're going to a game, or have a plan to visit next year....

The Ballpark E-Guides Newsletter Saturday, September 12, 2026 Greetings Reader - When I was a much younger fan starting this venture (you can read the full story here), one of the main ways I wanted to help other fans was by making attending ballgames easier on the wallet. I wasn't making great money back in the 1990s when Camden Yards was the hottest destination in baseball. So to go see Orioles games, I had to find ways to squeeze the most out of my dollar. That meant buying the cheapest...

The Ballpark E-Guides Newsletter Saturday, September 5, 2026 Greetings Reader - How's your September going so far? As I'm sure you know it can be an exciting or difficult time to be a baseball fan; either your team is closing in on clinching a playoff spot or staring down elimination. And as I mentioned in a previous issue, it affects ticket prices accordingly. The Tampa Bay Rays are one of those teams in the hunt. As I write this they're leading the AL East by four games and their magic...
