Greetings Reader -

When I was a much younger fan starting this venture (you can read the full story here), one of the main ways I wanted to help other fans was by making attending ballgames easier on the wallet.

I wasn't making great money back in the 1990s when Camden Yards was the hottest destination in baseball. So to go see Orioles games, I had to find ways to squeeze the most out of my dollar.

That meant buying the cheapest tickets, using a downtown parking garage (just $5 then), taking a route that avoided tolls, and buying a hot dog and peanuts from an outside vendor.

I thought I was pretty smart, but there was a whole lot I didn't know about finding deals on tickets, using public transit, bringing in my own food, even team newsletters.

Anyway, through the years I've learned a lot, and I put together a piece for my friends at Stadium Journey about how you can attend a ballgame at a price you can afford. They're good folks and I owed them a solid, and it was an easy piece to write.

I've shared it in the link below, I hope you get a chance to read it and it helps! These days, I'm sure you agree, knowing money-saving tips for anything is more useful than ever.

While we're on the topic of saving money, I'm including a bit about Wrigley Field, one of the more expensive ballparks in baseball. It's a list of outside eateries in Wrigleyville where you can fill up your goody bag. Some of them are true Chicago greats.

It's not a complete list by any stretch, but those are some of my favorites. Hopefully you trust my judgment by now. :-)

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you at the Yard!

Your Friend in Live Baseball,

Kurt

Tip of The Week

Parking is often a big part of the expense of attending ballgames, especially when you figure in gas-guzzling traffic getting in and out. Always look into your public transit options.

Nearly all ballparks, especially the ones in downtown areas, have multiple inexpensive rail or even bus options to get there. It's cheap, convenient, and can save you a bunch of cash.

Did a friend forward this email to you? Cool, thank them for me!

A Budget-Conscious Fan's Guide To MLB Games

The fine people at Stadium Journey published my piece with multiple helpful money-saving tips, including for getting tickets, getting to the ballpark, and eating at the game.

You can find much more for specific ballparks on the Ballpark E-Guides site, of course! But this is a great list of general tightwad tips.

Bringing Outside Food Into Wrigley Field

Great eats are part of visiting Chicago, and while Wrigley has some classic Chicago choices like Home Run Inn pizza, Hot Doug's dogs, and Buona Italian beef, there are many takeout joints in Wrigleyville where you can order great local favorites and bring them into the ballpark.

Here's a list of some Wrigleyville favorites of mine for cheaper yet still vintage Chicago grub.

I really appreciate your support!

The Ballpark E-Guides Newsletter Saturday, September 26, 2026 Greetings Reader - We're coming to those last few days of the 2026 season, with the final playoff spots being determined. Around Philly where I live, people are quite nervous as I write this. We'll see I guess. But in the Midwest, two NL Central teams have punched their ticket, so I thought I'd share some cool info about the Cubs' and Brewers' ballparks. Just in case you're going to a game, or have a plan to visit next year....

The Ballpark E-Guides Newsletter Saturday, September 19, 2026 Greetings Reader - One of the things I've learned in this venture is that there's something of a science to choosing a great seat at the ballpark, especially if you have to work within a budget as we all do. Citizens Bank Park in my hometown of Philly is a great example. Seating there is arranged pretty well and even upper level seats have decent views. But before I knew what I was doing, I had experienced a few times where I've...

The Ballpark E-Guides Newsletter Saturday, September 5, 2026 Greetings Reader - How's your September going so far? As I'm sure you know it can be an exciting or difficult time to be a baseball fan; either your team is closing in on clinching a playoff spot or staring down elimination. And as I mentioned in a previous issue, it affects ticket prices accordingly. The Tampa Bay Rays are one of those teams in the hunt. As I write this they're leading the AL East by four games and their magic...
