Greetings Reader -
Interesting trade deadline, wasn't it?
I'm not going to lie; it was a rough one for me. My Orioles traded Adley Rutschman, arguably their franchise player, to the division rival Red Sox.
As you can imagine, it wasn’t a popular move in Birdland. It certainly wasn’t with my ten year old son, who was near tears talking to his mother about it. He doesn’t want to watch any more Orioles games this year. As a fan I can appreciate the feeling.
He's ten; he'll be over it quickly I'm sure. I’m not trying to depress you. Actually, quite the opposite. I want to point out the opportunity for seeing "seller" teams on the cheap.
I just took a look at tickets to the last regular season game at Camden Yards this year, against the Blue Jays. As I write this, you can order a club seat through my friends at Gametime for just $27. That is a steal for club seats at the Yard. (More about that in the link below.)
In other words, if you have some flexibility and can plan for late in the season, you can find fantastic ticket deals for September games at the home of disappointing teams.
No offense if you’re a Mets fan, I feel your pain right now. But it’s a great opportunity for affordable tickets to games at Citi Field. They’re playing the Phillies to end their season; for the Friday night game, you can get a ticket as low as $12 on Gametime right now.
Again, that’s a steal for a Mets-Phillies game on a Friday at Citi.
So if your team is disappointing, and you don’t want to go to see them, I get it. But keep in mind that several teams’ season ticket holders feel the same way right now - and they’re looking to unload their September games.
Speaking of Citi Field, I’ve included two posts for you about the beautiful home of the Mets for your next visit.
First, I’ve updated my Citi Field menu page for 2026. Please forgive my immodesty, but I think it’s the best resource you’ll find on all things Mets food. I cover Shackburgers, Nathan's dogs, French dip sandwiches, Oreo churros, even gluten free and healthy choices. (The Mets did let me use some photos, which I greatly appreciate.)
The Mets food selection is incredible; definitely check it out.
I’ve also FINALLY finished a piece about your parking options at Citi Field. I don’t recommend driving there; but if you do, definitely read that first. I share how to avoid the long wait to exit, the best satellite spots, info about the new Mets shuttles, even some free street parking options. And of course my favorite Citi Field parking hack.
Hope you enjoy it…feel free to drop me a line with any questions or comments.
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you at the Yard!
Your Friend in Live Baseball,
Kurt
Tip of The Week
As I've just explained, disappointing teams especially will mean great deals on tickets for ballpark trippers...even for weekend games against high value opponents.
If you'd like to see a game...and maybe even your team...at a different ballpark, set aside some time in September, and look for teams that didn't live up to expectations. You'll find great deals on Gametime.
I haven't updated this in a while, so it's missing information about the new high end clubs, but most of it should still be accurate, including the bit about club seats I just mentioned.
For all of the Orioles' troubles, they still play in one of sports' greatest venues.
Look at those donuts, wow! The food selection at Citi Field in New York is truly Amazin', it's one of the best in baseball. (It's got stiff competition from its crosstown rival though...more about that in a future issue.)
Check out this helpful overview of what to eat; this post covers everything from Adam Richman's Hall of Fame burgers to Kwame's Patties to the humble but classic Hot Pastrami on Rye. I cover vegan, gluten-free and healthier options too.
Your choice of parking at Citi Field depends on what you're looking for...whether it's proximity to the ballpark, bargain options, easy exits or avoiding dealing with traffic entirely. Is there tailgating? Well...
This post covers it all with a summary at the end to make your decision simple. Plus, I hope, the captions will give you a chuckle.
I'm happy to do all of this free of charge...but it does require me to devote lots of time and money to bring you this informative and hopefully entertaining content.
So I really appreciate your support. Thank you in advance.
No actual charge at all. I won't ask you to "buy me a cup of coffee"; I can make my own.
